Plaza Advisors is a commercial real estate investment advisory firm that exclusively focuses in the investment sales of retail shopping centers throughout the Southeastern United States. Our team has over 35 years of real estate industry experience and has closed in excess of $1.5 billion in shopping center sales, among more than 100 shopping centers and 13.5 million square feet.

The Plaza Advisors Team is made up of our principals as well as a bright and talented group of analysts, graphic design and administrative support personnel.
Our entire Plaza Advisors' team functions as one cohesive unit on every transaction and in all facets of the engagement, from initial underwriting and preparation of marketing materials through the active marketing of a property, due diligence and ultimately closing. Each team member's strengths and experience is utilized in the execution of each engagement. Jim Michalak | Founder and President

Jim Michalak is the founder of Plaza Advisors and President of the firm. Mr. Michalak has more than 27 years of commercial real estate experience and has specialized in the disposition of shopping centers for the past 23 years. Mr. Michalak has consummated retail dispositions totaling more than $1.5 billion throughout the Southeastern United States on behalf of private equity and major institutional clients including fund advisors, life insurance companies, REITs, developers, private investors and money center banks.
Mr. Michalak earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University. Jim holds a Real Estate Broker’s License in Florida and has been active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since 1991. Additionally, Jim is active on the Florida ICSC Political Action Committee and has served on the planning committee for the ICSC West Florida idea exchange. Mr. Michalak also participates as both a panel and round table speaker for the ICSC. Mr. Michalak lives in Tampa with his wife, daughter and three sons.
Paul Bores | Financial Analyst

Paul Bores is the Senior Financial Analyst of Plaza Advisors. In this role, Mr. Bores is responsible for underwriting and valuing retail investments. Mr. Bores is also involved in assisting with buyer due diligence, preparing proposals and marketing materials, and conducting market studies. Prior to joining Plaza Advisors, Mr. Bores was a commercial real estate appraiser with Crown Appraisal Group in Columbus, Ohio. During his time as an appraiser, Mr. Bores was responsible for writing commercial real estate appraisals in order to provide clients with market values of shopping centers, office buildings, industrial buildings, and multi-family properties. Specific appraisal duties included inspecting properties, developing pro formas and 10-year cash flow models with Argus and Excel, performing market analysis, and estimating overall capitalization rates, discount rates, and reversion rates.
Mr. Bores holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Corporate Finance from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Cincinnati.
Brian Renew | Design Director

Brian Renew is the Design & Marketing Specialist for Plaza Advisors. In his role, Mr. Renew is responsible for the conceptual development of marketing materials, along with the design of the company website and email marketing campaigns. Additionally, Mr. Renew assists with the preparation of the offering memorandums by participating in market research and database management. Prior to joining Plaza Advisors, Mr. Renew has rounded his creativity a freelance designer< for well-known clients across the country. His work includes designs for countless websites, logos & branding, and advertising campaigns.
Mr. Renew attended college at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and later graduated from the Art Institute of Tampa, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design degree. He lives in Tampa with his wife, son and daughter.
